Checkups and vaccines
A yearly exam, nose to tail, plus rabies and distemper. Twenty minute appointments so nobody is rushed out the door.
Manhattan, Kansas · Open since 1988
We are a full service clinic on the east side of town: checkups, vaccines, surgery, dentistry, x-ray and bloodwork with results the same day. Two veterinarians, one building, since 1988.
Dogs, cats, rabbits and the occasional guinea pig. If your animal needs something we cannot do, we will tell you that and send you to the vet school, which is nine minutes away.
A yearly exam, nose to tail, plus rabies and distemper. Twenty minute appointments so nobody is rushed out the door.
Spays, neuters, mass removals and dental cleanings with extractions. Your pet goes home the same afternoon and we call you that evening.
Digital x-ray and a blood machine in the back room. Most results come back before you leave the parking lot.
Arthritis, kidney values, weight, and the hard conversation when it comes. We do home visits for euthanasia within twenty miles.
Twelve runs and six cat condos, for current patients only. Book early for football weekends and Christmas.
Everyone here has an animal of their own, which is most of the reason we do this.
Thirty-eight years on Prairie Creek Drive
Ellen Brubaker bought a former feed store in 1988 and turned the front half into a waiting room. The kennel went in the back where the loading dock used to be, and you can still see the old floor by the scale.
Corporate groups have offered to buy the practice four times. We have said no four times. Prices are set here, by us, and we can work out a payment plan across the counter without asking anybody's permission.

★★★★★My dog ate a sock on a Saturday morning. They took him at 8:15, did the x-ray, and had him in surgery by ten. He is fine and the bill was less than I braced for.
★★★★★Dr. Brubaker came out to the house when we had to put our old shepherd down. She sat on the porch floor with him. I will never forget that.
★★★★★Marla is the only person who has ever gotten blood out of my cat without a sedative. Twelve years of trying at three different clinics.
★★★★★Good care and honest pricing. The waiting room gets full around five o'clock, so I book mornings now and it is never a problem.

We are just east of the Highway 177 junction, in the tan brick building behind the car wash. Parking is out front and there is a bench outside if your dog would rather wait there.
Call the K-State Veterinary Health Center at (785) 555-0900. They are open all night and we get their notes the next morning.
