What we do

Prices are written down and given to you before you choose anything. We do not sell packages over the phone and we will tell you when a thing is not necessary.

Traditional funeral service
Visitation and service in our chapel, or at your church with us handling the arrangements. Includes transportation, preparation, register book and the procession to the cemetery.
Cremation
Direct cremation, or cremation followed by a memorial service on a date that suits your family. The crematory is thirty minutes away in Newark and a member of our staff accompanies every transfer.
Planning ahead
You can write down what you want and pay for it now at today's prices. The money sits in a state regulated trust in your name, and it moves with you if you leave Ohio.
Veterans
We file the paperwork for the burial allowance and the headstone, arrange the honor guard through V.F.W. Post 1058, and present the flag. There is no fee from us for this filing.
Monuments
Ordered through Muskingum Monument Works, who have cut stone in this county since 1904. You see a rubbing of the lettering before anything is carved.

Fifty-four years on the same road

The house has stayed in the family

  1. 1971

Walter Keller buys the old Deitrich place on North Gate Road and opens the funeral home with one hearse and a borrowed tent.

  2. 1979

Raymond, Walter's son, is licensed and joins his father full time after four years of driving for the ambulance service.

  3. 1986

The chapel is built onto the east side of the house so families no longer have to hold services in a rented hall.

  4. 1998

Walter retires. Raymond and Diane take over the business and begin offering cremation, which by then one family in five is asking for.

  5. 2011

Thomas, the third generation, comes home from mortuary school in Cincinnati and takes over the night calls.

  6. 2019

The cremation garden opens behind the chapel, with a low stone wall for niches and eleven maples planted along the walk.

Who you will meet

Thomas Keller

Funeral director, embalmer

Third generation. Coaches the junior high wrestling team at Maysville and takes most of the night calls.

My father died at 2 in the morning and Raymond was at the house before 3. He sat with my mother at the kitchen table for an hour and did not once mention money.

We only wanted a cremation and no service. Nobody tried to talk us into more than that. The price on the paper was the price we paid.

Diane found my mother's insurance policy from 1988 that we thought was gone and dealt with the company herself. That saved us about four thousand dollars.

The service for my uncle was handled well and the honor guard was on time. Parking got tight when the crowd was bigger than expected, but that is a small thing.
